remember Studs Terkel's "Working", the
842 page, 1972 book that provided a compelling look at jobs and the
people who do them. After working on the Veterans History Project for a
number of years, recording the personal accounts of war veterans, we
though we would apply the same to racing, collecting those stories that
never made the headlines, the personal narratives of drivers, car
owners, crew members and others involved in racing.
To date we have collected almost 100 recorded interviews, sometime soon we'll figure out how to publish them.
Some of the interviewees include Chuck Jones, Dick Guldstrand, Jerry Grant, Doug Hooper, Bruce Kessler, Howden Ganley, Amanda Mclaren, Chuck Parsons, James Garner, George Keck, Jerry Entin, Tony Settember, Bill Vukovich II, Chic Vandagriff, George Follmer, Carroll Shelby, Rodger Ward, Charlie Hayes, Scooter Patrick, Linda Vaughan, Parnelli Jones, Peggy Kastner, Anatoly Arutunoff and the list goes on ..............
The Racing History Project is a dba of the South Valley Economic Development Coalition; a 501c4 non profit corporation, supported 100% by donations and contributions
